You’re powering through your day like a productivity ninja, then—bam—3pm arrives and your brain says “Goodnight.”
Sound familiar? The 3pm slump is your body’s way of saying “I told you to eat lunch, Amy.”
Let’s break it down and fix it.
Why It Happens:
Blood sugar crash (especially if you had a coffee and muffin for breakfast)
Dehydration
Stress hormones peaking then plummeting
Poor lunch choices—or no lunch at all (you know who you are)
Simple Fixes:
Eat a proper lunch: Include protein + complex carbs + a healthy fat. Chicken, brown rice, avo? Sorted.
Snack smart: Go for nuts, fruit, boiled eggs, or a slice of hummus toast.
Drink up: Often your “hunger” is actually thirst. Add a wedge of lemon or cucumber to make it feel fancy.
Move a little: Even a 5-minute walk around the block or a wiggle in the kitchen can reboot your brain.
Have a 10-20min nap: If your schedule allows for it!
Mini Recipe: 3pm Anti-Slump Bites:
1 green apple, sliced
1 Tbsp peanut/almond butter
Sprinkle of cinnamon or hemp seeds
Simple. Satisfying. It's a bit like apple pie. Yum.
Don’t let 3pm bully you. Plan for it, eat like you love yourself, and remember: yawning at your keyboard isn’t a personality trait—it’s a cry for snacks and hydration.
